What We Expected vs What We are Experiencing

I asked Marlene today if this trip so far is what she expected. She said yes, generally, except there are more things to do and less free time than expected. My answer: I have spent much more time than expected planning our steps for the next day or days. I know generally where we are going but one needs to know specifically where and when to park this 38,000 pound rig every night. You can't just stop when you get tired and drop anchor. (I suppose you could but you could wake up on the rocks without careful thought) Also, the time needed to study the navigational part of the journey is fun but time consuming. Fortunately, we have had only minor mechanical issues so far, so that is a testimony to the quality and maintenance of the boat.

Hey!!
It's great to catch up with you and look at all of the pictures of family. Can't wait to see that Ruby Cate. Hopefully in August..when they come out. You guys are doing a great job with the navigation. Didn't know you had to help get the boat through the locks. .. guess you must be in pretty good shape...Still thinking about our wonderful time with you in Annapolis.
Love, Jon and Carolyn

If this is a picture of your tie up in Canajoharie, then this might be where I used to fish as a kid, where Canajoharie Creek runs into the Mohawk. My brother Andy was hoping to rendezvous with you, but ironically, the US Coast Guard has him attending a boat operator course in Rochester on Lake Ontario. "Locking through" sounds like great fun, but you're doing all the work while we're enjoying our arm-chair traveler status. Stan & Jane
